This article lists the Spells and Rituals in Sleepy Hollow Universe.

Spell for Separation

The ritual separates a horseman of the apocalypse from it’s host. It requires that the host cooperates to free themselves from the horseman. Ingredients include the essence of the host to create a psychic connection. In Latin one must speak: “As it binds, so let it connect. As it flows, so let it burn. Release my soul from it’s earthly shackles so that it may find the wanderer whose essence I hold.”

Awakening Ritual[]

Main article: Awakening Ritual

This ritual awakens the powers of humans who have Witch heritage and turns them into witches. If the spell isn't complete, the potential witches will only retain their powers briefly.

  • Incantation: "Sana garous venera, fateor et solleribus. Di et tore, verum esse en sanguinem. vapulus more au rarus, tempus statum est tibi. sanitaria potestas en sanguinem... en est au glas imitor."
  • Requirements: Specific bell and a pure-blooded Witch.
  • Used by: In "Awakening", Jeremy Crane/Henry Parrish attempted to use the spell which ended in failure being as he wasn't a pure-blooded warlock. The people he effected only retained their power briefly. He later enlisted his mother, Katrina Crane who was a pure-blooded witch and the two used the bell and activated the spell. The spell was stopped however by Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills when the bell was cracked.

Binding Spell[]

Main article: Binding Spell

The spell causes the powers of the witch or warlock selected by a coven to weaken, making it easier for non-magical beings to subdue them.

Immolation Spell[]

This spell causes the object of interest to ignite and quickly burn and wither. Used in "Heartless".

  • Used by: In "Heartless," Katrina attempts to use the spell on Lilith's heart, but it initially fails due to a protection spell inside. With Abbie's help, the spell slowly begins to burn the heart, eventually turning it into charcoal.

Obstringens Officium[]

Purgatory Spell[]

Main article: Purgatory SpellAl spell in which a coven forms a pentagram around the person they wish to banish to purgatory, holding candles or torches. Once cast, several vines will sprout from the ground and envelop them.

Sacrificial Resurrection Spell[]

Main article: Sacrificial Resurrection Spell

A spell that allows the caster to resurrect themselves by sacrificing other people to collect their bones, ashes, and heart, which they will then absorb to make their own.

  • Incantation:
  • Requirements: bones, ashes, and heart
  • Used by: In "Blood Moon" Serilda of Abaddón used this spell to reconstruct her body, killing Jeremy Furth and taking the ashes of a relative, both last descendants of the magistrate who sentenced her. After placing the skeleton and heart in their respective positions, she absorbed them, making them her own in her new body.

Traveler Spell[]

This spell generates a whirlwind-like door to transport the caster to a certain point in time.

  • Incantation: "Pateo so petos us que ta, ignos nutus seorsum pareo ne ta. Patus que te, ignos nutus non et norium et sa ah!"
  • Requirements: Grand Grimoire
  • Used by: In "Spellcaster" Solomon Kent attempted to cast this spell to go back in time to win Sarah Osborne's affections, but before he could, he was killed. In "Tempus Fugit" Katrina successfully cast this time travel spell to let her husband Ichabod Crane die following the murder of their son by Abbie Mills. In "Tomorrow" Lara Thomas uses it to travel to the dystopian future to the point where she could change the timeline and prevent it from happening.
