Colonel Sutton is Crane's Commanding Officer in the Revolutionary War and he dislikes Abbie Mills, who trapped in the 18th century because he thinks she is a British Spy. When Abbie was in prison, he was going to question her.

Its 1781 and Katrina Crane traveled back in time to kill Ichabod Crane to prevent him from becoming a witness in the future. When he was recovering his nurse was Katrina Crane and told her about the spy, as Katrina knew Abbie was in the 18th century. Katrina lated used Sutton's hand to find where Abbie and Ichabod were so that Abraham could kill Ichabod.[1]
