Tarrytown Psychiatric Hospital is the mental institution in Sleepy Hollow. Jenny Mills was a long time patient until she escaped and was later released under her sister, Abbie Mills's custody.
History[]
Nurse Gina[]
Around 1958, Nurse Gina Lambert who had been working there, was discovered to be emotionally abusing her patients, using phototropic drugs, and convincing them to kill themselves. She was arrested and the following year she was executed by the electric chair. Despite her apparent death, she was resurrected as a Demon during the time of the series and continued her work, killing several patients and nearly causing Captain Irving's death as well.[1]
When Lori Mills was committed to inpatient care after being previously only classed as an outpatient, she quickly deteriorated, making everyone believe that she was crazy when she claimed to see demons. Gina worked on Lori, eventually convincing her death was the best route, possibly believing that she was doing her a favor.[1]
Jenny's Freedom[]
Jenny Mills had been institutionalized for 13 years, because she stood by her testimony of having seen a demon in the woods. During that period, she was estranged from her sister, Lieutenant Abbie Mills. Jenny refused to see Abbie during that time but when her sister arrived with Crane, she was curious about the "British guy" with her.[2] Not long after rekindling their relationship, Jenny was granted temporary leave occasionally until she was permanently released.[3]
Henry's Manipulation[]
After Frank Irving was arrested for allegedly murdering a cop and a priest, he decided to tell the truth about the murders that he confessed to and was promptly sent to Tarrytown, where he was manipulated by Henry Parrish.[4] The Mills sisters also discovered the truth about their late mother, who was also a Tarrytown patient and had mixed feelings about Sheriff Reyes' involvement in their mother's plight. One day, the suicide rate at the hospital had caught the eye of Abbie which caused Abbie to take a personal look at the hospital where Frank Irving almost killed himself. A demon nurse named Gina Lambert was responsible for these deaths. Jenny used a spell which banished Gina and freed the hospital once again from her. In the aftermath, Frank took advantage of the situation and escaped.[1]
